Influenster Naturals VoxBox 2012

I received my Influenster Naturals Voxbox 2012 a few days ago and there were a couple of really cool items in it.  If you've never heard of Influenster, here is a description (via their website) of what it's all about:

"Community of trendsetters invited to share their lifestyles and show their influence to qualify for personalized product shipments, special rewards and exclusive deals from the brands they love. Members love testing the latest products, giving insightful feedback, and spreading the word on their favorite finds"

The VoxBox is filled with products from various brands.  And members of Influenster (called Influensters), are encouraged to share their thoughts about the products on and social networks (twitter, FB, Blogs, Youtube, etc.,). And the more your share, the higher your chances are to receive other VoxBoxes. The boxes are generally themed, so the Naturals VoxBox  was all about natural products.
Please note that there is no charge to be Influenster and VoxBoxes are sent, free of charge, to specially selected members.
Here is what I got  and I apologize for the bad phone pics but I've got no real camera now :(

from left to right
A dish mat used to air dry dishes. Holds up to 4 times its weight in water.

I did like this deodorant. It held up to its claims for me.
I made the switch from conventional deodorants/antiperspirants to natural some time ago. It took a while  to adjust but I've been wearing natural (store-bought and homemade) deodorant since, with no issues. Not sure how this product would perform on those who do use conventional deodorants.

Love it! It's for babies but anyone can use it.

It does seem to really moisturize but I find it slightly thick and waxy. I don't really like to feel my lip balm. I put it on and then end up taking it off.  It does have some pretty good ingredients but also has mineral oil and petrolatum which are pretty controversial these days.

Didn't love it or hate it. but it won't be replacing stevia as my no calorie, all natural sweetener.

This is one of those effervescent vitamin powders that you just add to a cup water. I've had this product before - I was not feeling the taste then and I don't care for it now. Maybe the other flavors taste better than orange. I did notice a slight energy boost though.

So convenient to have a couple in your purse when you cant wash your hands. I like them and their earthy smell.

Oh, I noticed that some people got Desert Essence Coconut Shine and Refine Hair Lotion in their boxes. I would have loved to try that.

Throwback Thursday! Early Etsy days.

These are the first few items I sold on etsy. Look how terrible these photos are. LOL. That first item was from 2008 and etsy was a different then. You could get away with not having the best  photos and many shops (mine included)  were a mishmash of  the sellers' handmade items.

Then Etsy started changing. Photos became paramount. And the collective look of a shop was extremely important -from the banner on down.  As etsy started to change I soon learned that I need to change too. Especially since my sales were little to none.  I began to pay more attention to what was working for successful sellers/shops and tried to implement those changes into my shop. My photos (slowly) got a little better and I'm still working on getting the best shots. Also, I spent more time editing the sections of my shop such as the bio, shipping policies, payment,etc,...  And don't even get me started on SEO, tagging, branding, and all that-i'm still working on getting that down.  Also, as social media exploded, I made sure to join the networks that could possibly help me reach customers. Some of them seemed ineffective but I still decided that it was better to promote on those networks than not. Though I must admit that I've dropped the ball a bit on the social media side. But I plan to change that and make other changes too. Especially making more jewelry!!!!! I've been so busy trying to promote the few items in my shop instead of making more stuff. But trust me, new items will be rolling out soon.

Anyway, those were my early etsy days and though my shop and brand  is not where I'd like it to be, it's much better than where I started.

You Can Make It If You Try - Sly and The Family Stone

My Buys

In a previous post I mentioned a sweet deal from R29 Reserve which was $35 for $70 worth of product at I bought that deal then (May 1) and at the time I was dead set on using it on this travel set. But once I actually placed my order (couple weeks ago) I decided I wanted to spread those dollars around. So here is what I ended up getting. And please note that all photos are sourced from because my camera finally, really hit the dust *cries* :((( and my camera phone photos just really suck. Though I did include one photo at the bottom all of the products.

My Fave Running Song....For Now!

I've been running a little over two months now.  I've improved my speed and stamina a bit but I'm still pretty slow. I generally run 2-3 times a week if I can but my knees won't allow me to go anymore than that. I try to get in 2-3 miles and I can pretty much do the first two miles straight. But come mile 3,  I'm walking midway through. Needless to say, running is little challenging for me but what makes it easier is music. And I know that some people run "unplugged" (without music)  but that doesn't work for me. Music gives me that little extra push I need to keep going. I have about 20 songs on my running playlist that range from mid to fast tempos. These songs are mostly just for running-not stuff that I casually listen. My fave at the moment  is Santigold's You'll Find A Way (video below). It's the perfect pace for me right but as I get faster my music will too.

Natural Hair Wishlist: Bask Beauty

I saw this Bask Beauty brand for the first time on Etsy a while ago. The products sounded pretty good so I added them to my favorite shops and didn't  think too much about them after that. Then I started seeing rave reviews on blogs and Youtube. And of course that piqued my interest. I went to their website and saw that they added many more products to their line. Everything sounded like something I'd love to try. I hope to get some of their products soon. Here are the items that I am most interested in:

Have you heard of Bask? Have you tried any of their products?
