Video Feature: Jasmin Mitchell Jewelry at Raw Artists Chicago Junction

Those who know me know that I'm a little camera shy but here is a video of me from the 9/22 Raw Artists Junction event. Can you tell I was slightly nervous and frazzled? And don't even get me started on my hands. I wanted to polish my fingernails but it had been a long day - or long week rather. I was working my part-time job, doing temp work, and working on jewelry so my time (and sleep) was limited. Plus I got to the venue a little later than I wanted. So I had to hurry, get my table set up, get dressed (I was coming from work) and refresh my makeup. However, the event was quite awesome and I had a great time. So here is the video. Hope you enjoy it.

Mesmerized By Mr. Porter!

I was in a bead shop when a gentleman walked in and he wanted to recreate a bracelet that he saw on a website called Mr. Porter which offers men's clothing, accessories, style tips, and more.  This man pulled up the Mr. Porter. website on his iPad. I took a peek; I  was sort of mesmerized. The site was very clean, smooth, and I really liked the overall style. I found myself  regularly checking out the site and really enjoying what I was seeing. And not only did I enjoy browsing the site but I also liked reading some of the articles and interviews. And please note that I (sadly) do not generally pay much attention to men's websites (or fashion, accessories, products, etc...) so I don't have many references to compare. I just know that I like this site and it has given me the gentle push I needed to check out what guys are up to when it comes to fashion and accessories. Especially since I am being constantly asked when I will start making men's jewelry.  Oh, and the answer to that men's jewelry question is soon. Stay tuned!

New Items Are Coming Soon!

Hi everyone! I know I have been missing in action but life has been a little hectic lately (I'll spare you the details). I have not have much time or energy to blog or be active on all of my social networks. I have even abandoned a few of those networks including both of my tumblrs. I think the last post I made on my soapfiending tumblr was in March. And despite my absence from Tumblr, this photo is being reblogged like crazy. Maybe it's because the creator of those soaps was one of Etsy's featured sellers in May (I think). Who knows? Anyway, I have seen a few lovely soaps from one of my favorite shops on Etsy, so maybe I'll post a couple just for old times sake.


Anyway, I've said all that just to say that I will be adding a few new items in my shop very soon. Including recycled leather cuffs and metal cuffs. I'll make sure to keep you posted.

Custom Order Are Welcome!

Wishlist: Love and Toast

I was walking around Whole Foods a couple weeks ago when I came across a small display of products and two representatives from body care line called Love and Toast. The reps were very nice and seemed really excited about the brand. They told me all about the  product line which included a body butter, hand cream,and a roller ball and spray perfume. I tested a few of the products and I thought they were fab. The packaging was super cute and appealing to me. And I thought the fragrances were quite nice. I must also mention that the price points were very reasonable.

I was so tempted to purchase a few of their products but I was already over my grocery shopping budget for that day.  I walked away with only a pamphlet and a sample of their wonderful Sugar Grapefruit Hand Cream. Since then, I've checked out their website a few times and I think I want one of everything. I will definitely be making a couple of purchases really soon and I'll let you all  know what I got.

BGLH Chicago Naturals May Meetup Is this Saturday!

  

The BGLH Natural Hair Meetup is this Saturday, May 28th from 11am-3pm at Little Black Pearl (1060 East 47th Street, Chicago, IL 60653). I'll be there selling my jewels including lots of new items that I've been working on. If you're in Chicago or the Chicago land area, please stop by.

The the entry fee for this event is $3 and a natural hair discussion will be from 11am-12pm. Vending will commence immediately after discussion. If you're not interested in discussion you can arrive at 12pm. Also please bring gently used hair products, that you no longer want, for the swap table.See ya there.

A Little Obsessed With: Orange

I've been a little obsessed with the color orange lately.. And I've always liked orange but  I am usually more  into cool tones like blues and greens. Now, all of a sudden, I'm buying all things orange including clothing and  cosmetics. I've also been making lots of jewelry with components in the orange color family.
