I entered a beading contest for the first time (in a long time). The contest was put on by Happy Mango Beads and it was called Trash to Treasure. The general rules of the contest was to create an item of jewelry out of something old and/or recycled and recyclable materials. I liked the idea of the contest so I decided to enter and I also thought it would get my creative juices flowin. What I created was pair of earrings made from portions of Kombucha Wonder Drink cans which were on sale 5 for $5 at Whole Foods. I liked the logo on the can so I decided to cut it out and create around it. Anyway, here are photos of the materials and the earrings! And click here to check out other Trash to Treasure entries on Happy Mango Beads' Facebook Page.

My Latest Creations!
Here a few photos of some of the jewelry I've made lately. I've been using a lot of leather (recycled from other items), brass and copper ( because their much cheaper than other precious metals), and other materials that I have had for some time but have never used. I did have these items available for sale at the last craft show worked but, they did not sell *sadface*
And I am not sure If I want to list to Etsy right now either. We shall see what happens! Please let me know what you all think. And if anyone is interested in any item just let me know in the comments, on Etsy conversations (jazjewelz.etsy.com), or on my Facebook Fan Page.

My Upcycle/Recycle Project!
A few weeks ago I decided to start working on some jewelry made with items that I already had. And the items I am speaking of are are fabric, leather, broken jewelry, etc.... I have made a few cool interesting things that I will take photos and list on Etsy. However, I have also make a few things that are not cool at all or they are taking longer to make than I thought they would. For instance I am working on a leather cuff make from leather scraps ( that I have had forever) . I started working on this cuff yesterday thinking it would be an easy project but I was wrong. It's day two and I am still working on it-trying to figure out a way to close it without it looking goofy. And of course I could use snaps but I was being cheap and did not want to buy anything new for these projects. Anyway, I am off to try and finish that cuff and a few more items so that I can take photos on Wednesday (which will be th only sunny day this week) and list them. Plus, I have a gig this week from Thursday to next Tuesday so I wanted to have more items in the shop before then.
Wish me luck!
