Etsy Team EAOC Empowerment Group Purchase!

Hey everyone, I recently got a sale on Etsy  (gasp) which makes sale number eight. And here is  the message from the seller: I'm sure my daughter will love these!! This is an EAOC Empowerment Club purchase. Join the club: http://etsyaoc.ning.com/group/eaocpurchasebythemonthclub?xg_source=msg_mes_network

I have been a member the EAOC (Etsy Artists of Color) Etsy team for a while but this was my first time seeing anything about the Empowerment Club in which each member makes 1 purchase a month from another EAOC Etsy shop. So of course I joined the club and made my first monthly purchase which was from
Good Enough to Eat Natural Products. I bought a bar of soap and some body cream . You can see them here:

I also bought some products (body oil and a whipped soap)  from The Ivory Magnolia Bath & Body Luxuries.
and here is what I bought: http://www.etsy.com/receipt.php?order_id=18768692

I can't wait to try these wonderful goodies from my teammates and If you are an artist of color feel free to join the EAOC team and the Empowerment club (the link in first paragragh will take you to the group).

Huge Lips , Skinny Hips - Part Deux

In one of my previous posts I asked you all for your thoughts on a product called
Huge Lips Skinny Hips which is a lip gloss/ plumper/ appetite suppressant. The majority of you who commented said that it sounded like an interesting concept, a great marketing ploy, and that you would try it but did not have $20 or more to spend on one gloss. I also mentioned that I would try it if I had more disposable income.

Well, since then, Karen Robinovitz (who was kind enough to leave a comment on my last post), and her indie company (Purple Lab Cosmetics ) have sort of exploded on the beauty scene. They're in magazines, on blogs, YouTube, and were recently on HSN showcasing Huge Lip Skinny Hips (which I will abbreviate at HLSH) along with their other products. And although I rarely watch home shopping shows, I was really interested in watching Purple Lab on HSN. So I watched and all of the products looked and sounded great.
<---- And there was a deal on the HLSH which was 2 for $29.50 so I thought this would be the perfect time to try it. I ordered the No Panty Lines which is clear and Worship Kate which is a mauve color. I gave them a test try as soon as I got them in the mail and I really liked them. HLSH has a nice subtle shine, it's not tacky, is very lightweight, and I did see some plump action although my lips don't need much plumping. There was no stinging or burning like some other plumpers and I have also noticed that the clear gloss enhances my natural lip color quite nicely. As for the appetite suppressant I don't think I really paid attention to whether I felt hungry or not. Sorry! Maybe one day I'll make a conscious effort to gauge my appetite and update this post.

Overall I really like HLSH and would purchase again. I am also interested in trying some of Purple Lab's other products and they will be on HSN again on March 29th and 30th so maybe there will be another deal I can take advantage of. I will let you all know if I purchase something but until then it's back to making jewelry.

New Upcoming Show: Randolph Street Market

In a few weeks (March 20-21) I will be a vendor at the Randolph Street Market's Spring Fling which is a craft show that features new, up and coming, indie designers. I had heard about this market before but never really thought about vending there. However, at my last show (The Handmade Market) one of the organizers of the Randolph Street Market gave me her card and told me that I should do their market and that they had some lowers rate for new designers. So, I pretty much jumped on this opportunity right away because I could always use new outlets to sell my jewelry. And now I am pretty busy making plenty of new items for this show and a few other shows that I might participate in. I want to try and stay stocked up so I don't have to make new stuff for every new show. Anyway, that is what's going on with me right now and I will keep everyone posted about more shows and I got a few beauty reviews coming up so stay tuned.
